They Sound like mini brittle stars. They wont get very big and are safe. I have tons of them in my tank.

I had a couple in my last tank (110g).....a rusty red one & a black one. They were both about 9 or 10" tip to tip.

I was going nuts trying to find what was snagging my shrimp. In the research process, I did find that there are UNSAFE brittle stars. Can't remember where, I'm thinking "...Contientious Marine Aquarist...."?

Anyway, turns out my "ReefSafe" bluejaw trigger was grubbing my creaner shrimp.

Why is everyone mentioning all these DIFFERENT star fish? He most likely has mini brittle stars. Completely reef safe, will not eat fish. Only grow 1-2" at most.

Everyone else that has starfish that are huge, most likely have serpant stars, which are reef safe.

The "reason" is: so people can start looking for info & get used to doing research on their own.
