I am looking to get 1 larger fish for my reef tank, but I can't firgure out what to get. I am pretty sure I want a tang. Currently I have 2xBlue/Green Chromis, 2xOcellaris Clowns, and 2xSandsifting Gobys. I am looking for non-aggressive fish that will get along with my other fish.

    Tank specs:
    55 gal w/ 60-70 lbs. live rock
10 gal sump w/ protien skimmer, bio balls, small UV sterilizer, bag of seachem purigen
    N02, N03, Ammonia, and P04 all read near 0

    Other tank mates:
40 snails (zebra, turbosnails, tongan, cerith,etc...)
    3 Hermit crabs (small)
    1 Skunk Cleaner shrimp
    1 coral banded shrimp
    1 banded serpant star
1 bristle serpant star (tiny, hitchhiker)
    1 Queen conch
    1 feather duster
    Corals.

If you are looking for a Tang might I suggest either a Purple Tang (My favorite) or an Atlantic Blue Tang. The cool thing about the Altantic Blue Tang is that when it is a Juvenile it is yellow with blue markings (much like a lemonpeel angel) but will change to a nice blue tang that varies on it's mood and water conditions......

I like both of those fish, but I am thinking that size is an issue. I would feel bad sticking a, potentially, 10 inch fish in a 55 gal tank.

you said non-agress? well the purple IMO get agressive to other tangs of the same shape. and in that tank its almost a 100%. i would suggest a sailfin maybe. less aggressive and you dont have anything in there that would bully this shy tang. they get big like the purple, my old boss has had one for about 5 years in a 65 bowfront.

55G may not be the best size for a Tang of any type. You may want to think about a different species How about a Wrasse. There are a lot of crazy looking wrasses that are amazing. Plus instead of just getting one fish that will out grow your current tank you could get 2 fish

I agree with Jason. I gave up my tang dreams alone time ago hah. Unless the tank is really open...thus constricting coral room tangs will grow to big. I would check out flasher wrasses, they are very cool and very beautiful.

flashers or fairy wrasses are good choises for a tank that size.
