need help fast

Hi there I am new to this site I need help with a emergancy
I have a big fancy goldfish that I discovered this morning was stuck in a log in my tank and my pleco was on top of her. I managed to get my gold fish out but all her scales are gone and she is just lying on her side it is a oranda gold fish. I have her in a hospital tank but she is not moving very much and not looking very good should I put some aquaruim salt in her water I am just praying right now that she will make it I dont know what to do for her she was always making the pleco chase her I told her to stop annoying the pleco but she did not listen and now she has got herself into trouble silly fish.

Welcome to 3Reef. I wish it was under better circumstances.

I truly know diddly squat about freshwater but I'm guessing two things. You goldfish is Oxygen-Deprived and you need to replace it's slime-coat.

For Oxygen, hold your fish in the current of your filter so that it blows over their mouth and out their gills

For the slime coat, your fish store will have some things that are fairly inexpensive to replace.

That's the best I can do until someone with freshwater tanks comes along.

 

I've had success with products that include aloe-vera to help with the slime coat in FW.

 

If you want a kinder more efficient pleco get the bristlenose they only grow about 4 inches total and work like the ****ens...they get kinda odd looking cause they grow whiskers straight up around the top of their mouths but are real good with all kinds of fish...I have had plecos totally kill discus in the past....

 

Use stress coat and a small amount of aquarium salt--lower the temp to about 73 or so if you can--I know that is really cold in the house-(I dont know where you live). Also lights out for a few days so he will totally relax...The cold will slow all functions i.e breathing.
All you can do then is just hope for the best--Oh and if you cant put him in front of the filter flow--make sure you at least run an airstone.
