I thought I possibly had Bryopsis but I am not sure. The algae is a dark hairy green, grown in a few patches in one area, and a little on the powerheads. I looked on wetwebmedia websites to investigate. I found 2 pics, the pic they had of Bryopsis doesn't look like what I have. Mine is very soft, fluffy, hair like algae that's a darker green. Anyone have any pics of different kinds of green hair algae. I want this s@*t out of my tank before it explodes.

The first pic is of bryopsis, my algae looks like the second pic but the green is darker.

I had it growing on my powerheads and my snails eat it with no ill affects, I tried pulling it off the rock and it has the same slimy feeling like seaweed and I could barely get any off. My hermits were in the area cleaning and I put a snail on a patch of the green hair algae and it ate a patch of it. Either way I hate it in my tank but to physically remove it, it will have to get longer. i will post a better pic of it tomorrow, thanks for all your help.

Pull out as much of it as you can then let the snails do the rest. I'm surprised that your lawnmower blennie isn't eating it!

Whats the P.H of the water Not the carbonate or DKH but P.H ??? As a rule P.H means very little But when algae is the issue then it can make a huge difference.. Do you have or use a P.H meter ? a test kit is iffy at best.

Only a test kit, I tested it last week, it's always between 8.2 - 8.4, it has always been this since the beginning of the tank. I will have to test again tomorrow. I am sure my phosphates are up there. I have a test kit and when I tested it the colour wasn't even on the chart. The chart has a light to darker greens, well my water was a yellowy colour??

Is enough water passing through your phosphate media bag (assuming you added some like you were planning to)?
