    I haven't picked up the media yet, I am having a hard time deciding which is the best to use and finding it. I am going to have to order it.

    Well the best is any iron oxide media but you have to use a reactor or it will lock up and bind into a block in a bag use the Phosguard there are the two o the market. RWANA or Phos Loc iron based and the Sea Chem Phosguard is the best Aluminum based , Also kick the P>H up tp 8.6 8.7 and keep and it steady there for atlest 3 to 4 weeks will help burn it out forever is where I'd keep it. but don't raise the DKH use a Carbonate soda not bicarbonate soda as that will affect the DKH and you don't want that.

    I heard phosguard causes temp spikes?

    I've never heard that. When you activate it (by soaking it in water), it will generate heat but only for a minute or so. That being said, you don't activate it in the tank, you do it in a seperate container filled with r.o. water then place it in your filter once it has cooled.

    When its rinsed it will get warm. But thats it when its activated its never raises the temps You'll hear a lot of stuff from reading repeaters LOL they read some Half baked stuff and then not understanding what they had read then start the chicken Little imitations LOL

    Its totaly safe and it will not raise the tanks water temps.. thats the product Check MOP's they have a good price on it.. In Your next of the woods also..

    Thanks everyone...I always shop with mops, Dan is a great guy and very helpful. Will order it today as the local stores don't carry it.
