Going to order one of these for my 45 cube today or tomorrow. Do you guys think the pro is worth it? Money isn't really an issue, but if the pro isnt going to give me significantly better growth then I'd prefer not to waste the money.

    Thanks!

If I were going to buy one of the two, I'd go with the Pro. I've had the orignal Radion, and I had to add supplemental LED (Violets mainly) to get the color I wanted. The Pro is more of the "Full-spectrum" that all LED users are striving for.

EDIT: My LFS has these for sale, and I asked to see a Pro over a tank. They told me that EcoTech had discouraged this, and asked that only the Gen 2's be displayed. He wouldn't tell me why.

FOD - That, combined with other posts ive seen on the pro, is enough to convince me to go with the regular G2 XR30w. I also read that the UV LED's arent really "UV", so if I need the supplemental spectrum down the road I'll just DIY some true UV bulbs.

    Thanks

    That's really strange....:-/

I currently have a Gen 2 and so far it's proving well sufficient. The morning and evening parts of my graph (deep blues) really bring out some nice fluorescence in the few corals I have. But I still wonder if I'll want to add supplemental ultraviolets down the road. So far, I'm happy as is.

If money is no object, maybe go with the Pro and do a review/comparison.

    Cheers.

You do not want UV, you want TV. And you don't want 405nm either, you want 420-430nm ideally. UV, or below 400nm, harms corals in high enough, even low amounts.

    Agreed, TV not UV.

Thank you! I just purchased a G2 Radion (non-pro) and will add TV as needed.
