    Hey guys,
I finally got my new Octopus HB-100F skimmer in today. I got the thing all set up and on the back of my tank, but I cant get the darn thing to prime. I've been going at this thing for about 40 minutes now :-[. I know I must be doing something wrong, but this is my first skimmer, and didnt come with a manual . Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

is this a recirculating skimmer or does a pump feed into it. if its a recirculating you need to buy a power head to feed it, it wont work with out it.

It has a pump. And Ive tried filling it, but it just keeps draining its own chamber instead of sucking water through the inlet pipe

if you have this version http://www.aquacave.com/images/Skimmer BH-100F 1.jpg
you must fill up the back all the way and use a airline tube or maybe the white thing on top the tube to suck the air out the siphon tube. i think thats what you need to do anyway. i dont have this but i imagine youd need to prime it like a overflow box

    I got it working.
Mine is similar to that, but it has a larger air bleed valve with a QD fitting for an air hose. You have to stick the hose in the fitting, open the valve, suck start the siphon, then close the valve like in lighning time or you lose the siphon. After about 15 mouthfuls of tank water I finally got it started.
Thanks all for your quick responses!
