dont do a water change. and youre fine with nitrates and ammonia high. thatds part of the whole process. next thing to do is reeeeeeelax. everythings gonna be fine. you want to see these levels , means youre getting die off. and again , no water changes. you will just prolong the cycle

Do you have any fish or other livestock?

If not, the live rock and sand will be just fine.

The tank is cycling full swing and will balance on its own. Don't add ANYTHING to it.

Also, hit your caps lock button again to turn it off.......

+1 I agree. If you have any fish or inverts in there (which you shouldn't!!) then do a 15% water change to help them survive. If emty with only live rock and sand....ride it out.

Get a few books and movies and check the tank once a week for the next two or three weeks then you will be close to the end of the cycle. Isn't waiting for your first fish fun

I think this water change was only in the event of livestock.

Water change will only make it longer. You are experiencing high levels due to die off in your live rock. Now that you have those high levels in your tank bacteria is going to colonize to get rid of the high levels. If you do a water change your bacteria will not have the ammonia and nitrite to eat and thus will form a weaker colony making the cycle last longer.

Patience is the true test of this hobby. Wait it out until ammonia nitrite and nitrates all read 0 and you will have a much stronger system.
