I just want to verify that these are what the lady at the lfs said they were. For the blue damsel's, i know they are damsels but not 100% sure what kind. The first pic of my tank i was told was a fox coral, the second was a mandarin goby and the 3rd and 4th im not 100% sure but i know its a damsel, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

yep, bubble coral, a mandarin and green chromis.

Mandarin's need a lot of pods to eat, unless yours is eating prepared foods, it may not do well in your tank.

Can you give some specifics about your tank? How long has it been running, size, any refugium?

pods? they an abbreviation for the things that look like ants that run alll over the place at night when i shine a flashlight on the rocks? if so i have a ton of them, hundreds probably. My tank is a 46 bowfront, with frogspawn, true pec clown, juvi yellow tang, pulsating xenia, muchroom coral, emerald crap, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, 30 hermis, and a nasaurus snail. tank is about 5 months old, all the water params are great and coraline is growing everwhere. Have a reef octopus hob skimmer, a aquaclear 70, koralia 2, and a penguin filter. 45 lbs of live rock. if pods are something different then please let me know and i will run to the lfs to get whatever i need. Thanks so much i always appreciate all your help, im new to the hobby.

yup those are pods, but u better hope you have a lot more then hundreds bc a mandrin can eat 100 in a day. What id do is see if any LFS have any in stock, and turn the aqua clear into a HoB fuge and dump the pods in there, this will give them a place to reporduce, id also add them every week or 2 weeks untill you can get the pod count up to where the mandy cant wipe them out in a couple days.

thanks so much for your help. that little fish can really eat hundreds a day?im sure i have a ton, and probably more than a hundred, they are all over the place at night i just dont look at my tank much at night to get more accurate numbers, do they eat anything else besides pods? Btw what is the full name of the "pods" so i can look them up and get some? Id love to be able to feed them something else besides the pods if possible

copepods.... tiger pods are a good choice lfs have available in a refrigerator... you can also try rotifyers (sp) i think they are sold as roti feast. theres are also arctic (sp) pods depending on the size of the manderin. sry i cant c the pics on my pda . these are all live foods sold from refrigerator. i beleive this keeps the little critters in a dormant state so the live longer and eat less.watch the manderin during feedings to see if he has been weend onto frozen food some lfs do get their manderins weend, not likly but possible. best of luck

I have 2 mandarins in a 34 gallon tank. I added a botttel of 1000 pods every week for awhile. I spent many hours trying different types of frozen food. I am glad to say that both Mandarins are fat and happy. They both eat prepared frozen food and now I am starting to work on getting them to eat at pellets. My spotted picks at the pellet but I would not say eating it yet. With Mandarins you need to spend a liitle green to keep them in a small tank but so far no problems here. I've had them about 2 months now. They are alot fun to watch when they play in the currents.

I am very curious. Has any one ever tried using the jars of copepods? A LFS by me has tons of jars of them, but I cant see a darn thing in the jars but water. Is it full of eggs of larvae or is it just a gimmick?
