So will it still be on a Oceanic stand? The fine print is that if the tank is not on a Oceanic stand, the lifetime warranty is no good.

Also.... my LFS sells Oceanic.... he says he is going to stop carrying them because they have been going down hill every since they got bought out. The original folks of Oceanic all left and started Deep Sea Aquatics. Also, he insists that they do not use Starfire anymore, and verified that with them. However, others insist they do and have got some recently from them.

Personally, I don't know. I don't take one thing I hear as gospel, but personally, I think it is worth investigating. My LFS is sort of steamed they are a premium tank and that they are not using the same things everyone thinks they use for the premium price. The lifetime warranty is limited. blah blah... Just thought you might want to know.

Also, don't even know if you could tell the difference of starfire on a 90g. It isn't that thick.

yeah, i have talked to a few different stores in my area and have heard 2 different stories about oceanic. one is that the are just downsizing to produce the "high-end" line as part of all-glass. the other is that the are kinda slowly going away all together.

The one guy i talked to that seemed to know the most, (or the best BSer, you know how that goes) also said the same thing about not noticing the starphire on a 90 gallon as much.

i think i am kinda leaning away from the Tech. if it was closer in price it may be a little tougher, its just that 300 more would be enough to pay for a good skimmer or something like that.

powerman, did the location of that overflow bother you at all?? as far as aquascaping goes? or flow??? (although i think i read in another thread you had an mp40 so i am guessing its pretty good)

i just think a corner would be more convenient

There is some that don't care for Glass cages, and there is Lee Mar. You could probably get one off the shelf for about the same price as a Oceanic. Could not be worse than AGA. But a common tank is a common tank. My 90g is a AGA. There is a ton out there, and yes, $300 is a big difference with questionable real differences. I too wanted a Oceanic just because they are a "premium" common tank. But not if they are not if they are just riding their name from the past.

Not really... I mean it is what it is. It's a off the rack tank. The next one I want will be a custom with a coast to coast overflow so not even a corner. You will work it out either way. A 90g is huge compared to a30g... but in the end... we all run out of room and wish we had more.;D (overflows or not)
