    Info on the Vampire Tang

The Vampire Tang is a very docile fish which can be seen foraging for food along reefs in the indo pacific all day long. A lot of the times these fish are added to the tank to take care of algae problems such as hair algae and do a good job at said removal. Feeding these fish needs to be done daily to keep it happy, not large meals but small ones so not to cause a spike in nutrient levels in tank. These fish like a stable environment so don’t let your tank get to off balance. When under fed, these fish will start picking at Large Stony Polyp Coral. Picking at LPS is a good way to show you aren’t feeding it enough. When adding these guys to the tank it is necessary if you are adding more than one add them at the same time or one can establish dominance and start picking on the new-comer. These fish are a pale gray when juvenile but when reaching adulthood their color does darken. Make sure when putting these guys in the tank that it is the last surgeon fish you add to the tank.

    Experience with the Vampire Tang

Vampire Tangs do not live up to their name as being evil, well to other species of fish anyways. They are observed in the home aquarium as an extremely peaceful fish. They will go in and out of the rocks constantly looking for their next grazing meal so a veggie clip is a must to keep them healthy without over polluting your tank. These fish love hair algae and will graze upon it immediately..
