Well I thought I had the skimmer that I wanted up until today. After reading numerous things I decided on the SWC 160. The foot print for the skimmer needs to be smaller than 11.5 x 9 and the SWC fit that perfectly.
So I purchased it two weeks ago and today it stopped on me. I read some where to blow in the air hose to restart the pump. I did this until I turned blue. ;) So I took it completely apart and cleaned it. The impellar is spinning but very slow. Not fast enough to even stir up a bubble. I heard they had pump problems but I didnt think it would be less than 2 weeks before I had issues.
Anyway I would like some help deciding which skimmer to try next that will work in a 11.5 x 9 in sump. I have the pro clear 300 wet/dry that I will be putting it in. I have heard you should go plus one on the size of the skimmer but my space is limiting so I am trying to get the best bang for the space. ;D

Thanks in advance for the help.

I got it new from Big Al's.. I am just worried about staying with it since the pump died and I have read about the problems with the pump. I dont want to deal with this issue all the time. So I was thinking of other options. It did work well for the short time it worked.

I forgot to mention that it would be for a 90 gallon aquarium. It will be an in sump skimmer. It will go in a pro clear 300 wet/dry sump.

I am a big fan of Eshopps skimmers, however you would probable need one rated for 150 gallons and i think they are 12"x6". The PSK-100 would work, but likely undersized.

Is it possible to keep that skimmer and change the pump? It's hard to find what fits in certain situations. I had a hard time getting one to fit in my sump..

I am not sure it is. I think it would be hard to find a pump that fits in the bottom just right for it to be hooked up. Plus the skimmer is brand new so I would rather not mod it at this point.

I am trying to decide if I should get it fixed as stated above and keep it. I just hate to have to spend the money for a pump in 6 months and maybe this is a sign.

I have been looking at the Reef Octopus Diablo 160xs or maybe the Super Reef 6.3" Limited space saver protein skimmer. Not sure what the difference is between these two.

I researched a great amount before buying the SWC and it worked well until it broke. I never thought it would die this soon.

Again any help is appreciated and thanks for the help and ideas so far.
