I'm looking to breathe life into my somewhat neglected 100 gallon mixed reef. To start I'm going to swap the Turboflotor 1000 on it for something a little more up to the task. I've been researching quite a few skimmers, like the Octopus Extreme 200 and the Vertex IN-180 but I really feel mI'd benefit from some external input. So I'd really appreciate any suggestions/advice you guys have to give. The tank will have a heavy bioload and be a mixed reef with an emphasis on SPS.

    Thanks alot in advance.

An Eshopps 200 gallon rated would be another good choice. Great prices and quality plus very effective.

+1 to Eshopps. Excellent performance and won't break the bank.

And why do you feel an external would be better for you?

I think by "external input," he meant opinions from us, not an external skimmer--;)

Yup, that's what I meant. Sorry about the confusion. As far as the Eshopp skimmer goes the problem is finding a supplier in Canada :(.

So I guess the Eshopps is a no go, which makes the Octopus that much better as an option. I'm just wondering if the Extreme 160 might be a better option given that both the 160 and 200 model use the same pump. Does the Extreme 200 body get the full use out of the pump?

Also, it's "eh", not "aye". I'm just Canadian, not a pirate(thought I wish I was).;)
