I have been looking at them. From what I've heard the SWC Xtreme 200 and Octopus Extreme 200 are essentially the same skimmer though the SWC has a slightly better stock pinwheel and is Canadian. Given the pinwheel and the fact that I like to support Canadian companies when I can I think I'm going with it. Having experience with these skimmers do you think that the Extreme 200 would be a better or worse match for a 100 gallon heavy stocked mixed reef than the 160 Cone?

As far as the Canadian women, they burn off lots of calories trying to stay warm, easier to stay in shape that way ;). The great white north has lots of offer.

The Xtreme 200 would be my choice if you are stocked on the heavy side and have the room for it. Do you have an area in your sump that has a constant level? if not you should make an area that doesn't fluctuate when the water evaporates.

BTW....Our skimmers are also made in china but the company that has them built is in Canada. I then import them to the US.

Well the 200 definitely won't fit into my current sump, so I'm having one custom made at an LFS. It will have a 12" x 12" skimmer area with about 27" of height clearance so I think it will bo okay as far as sizing goes. I don't know how to create an area with a constant water level though. How would I go about doing this with an external sump pump?

Check out Bubble Magus. I've been very happy with my NAC6, as well as a few other mombers on here.

Here is a good example of a sump with a skimmers area and a fuge area. The only difference would be that your return pump would be external.
The first pic is what I am talking about. You either need to make a sump with a skimmer area with consistent water level or put an auto top off. If you don't your skimmer will constantly need adjusted and simply wont work right. Your LFS should know how to design it for you.

So the idea is to have a high walled input/skimmer compartment where water will drain in and need to be a certain height to drain over, making sure the water in that chamber is always level?
