Need help picking pump for skimmer

    So I got a skimmer today, documentation says it would have come from the factory with either a Rio800 or a GEX-1000 needlewheel. Does anyone have any suggestions of a better pump I can use. I was trying to find something with a pinwheel but I only find a few pumps that come that way. I know someone selling a much larger GEX with pinwheel but its a 6000 and I think thats probably way too much for this skimmer (its just a standard vortex in sump skimmer but aquatic life support).

    Hi,
    IMO these manufacturers usually try to find a good match for their skimmers. A larger pump won't necessarily be better. It might make settings difficult and might not skim as well as what they recommend. Setup should be easy using a pump they recommend.- Paul
