I have been researching but Im still so lost on everything. Ive found what tank I want, now I need to figure out what to put in it.
Im getting the Neo Nano from DSA and plan to put in a coral, clams and a few fish. The tank dimensions are 24 x 24 x 14 so it's very shallow and rimless. It comes with a sump.
    Sump...
On another board, I met someone with this system and on her sump she said this, "You might be able to put a refuge in the middle of the tank where the sponge is. I'm not sure what other people have done for fuges for this tank." Im not sure how I would do that. Here is a picture of her sump...

Do I need plumbing and stuff? What else would I need for it?
    Lighting...
I know I don't want MH. I want either T5 or LED. I read an old post on LEDs and it was all this DIY stuff. Are they making ready to go lights now? I definately like the idea of different colors, especially the bluer tanks and I like the moonlight look too. But I don't know what to get for this tank. Do you all have any recommendations with links? I have to get everything online.
    Everything else...
What else would I need for a tank like this? Im afraid Im going to get things that are either the wrong size, too powerful, not powerful enough, etc. Im having information overload! Any links to items in stores would be a giant help
    Thanks!

Well I think the unit is set up with all that is needed for the sump so not plumbing to buy you might need to to put in together.

http://www.reefgeek.com/lighting/T5..._6x24W_SunPower_T5_High-Output_Fixture_by_ATI Here is a link to the best T5 light fixture. They also sell it with bulbs included which is the best deal by far.

Other supplies would be a heater, probably would want two circulation pumps like Koralia 1's so you have at least 20X the display tanks volume of circulation, a thermometer, testing kits for calcium, magnesium, alkalinity, pH, nitrate, ammonia, nitrite and phosphate.

Thanks for the link, that's great! Do they make LEDS for a tank like this? Otherwise I'll go with those T5s.

They do make LEDs for small tanks. Check out nanocustoms.

Gosh I feel so dumb because Im just not getting it. I think the lights are by far the most confusing!

Would this work? Im not sure if its even the right size for a 24.5 x 25.5 x 14 tank. Nanocustoms Hybrid LED + T5 Nano-Reef Lighting nanocustoms

What I would definately like are having those pretty blue colors that bring out the corals (but which colors I dont know??)...and I would like to have those nice moon type lights for nightime as well.

I dont like the heat coming off MH and the power consumption puts me off. Which is why I like LED. However, I do plan to keep corals and clams.

Would that link above work for that or do you all have a better suggestion?

This one was designed to be used on tanks with length of 12 -14 inches. The person that designed these has posted that they are looking at larger options in the near future. In the same realm of ideals, you could go with something like:

    Evil's Par38

You would probably be looking at 4 of them - and you could use pretty much any normal light fixtures to run it. I have seen a couple of tanks that run these in japanese style fixtures. And if you are looking to avoid MH to keep the heat down, these would price out about the same as a T5HO fixture that would provide the same coverage (and the LED will last A LOT longer with even less heat. Plus, these have GREAT par readings.
