Hi everyone! I am new to the fish life. My tank is only about three months old and I only have three Tiger Barbs so far. They are doing well and I do around a 30% water change weekly. My problem is that my tank started smelling in the last few days. The ammonia level is under control(checked with test strip) . Could this be because I haven't touched my filter?? Thank you guys for answering!

    Hi jetsball1, Welcome to 3reef!
Carbon is always adviseable for removing DOM and odors especially. I would get into a habit of performing a water change weekly or every other week for optimal water clarity and quality.
Try to keep feeding under wraps as well...don't overfeed!
    Best of luck!

Get a good grade of activated Carbon and change it weekly until the problem is solved about a 1/2 cup per 20 gallons in a F/W tank. You should smell a difference in a few hrs.

Yeah, add some good carbon and set a box of baking soda near your tank or one of those "Armon Hammer" ones that help control oder.
