I added 7 Dispar Anthias to my 180 on Monday night. They all seemed fine when I added them. After the first night I had 5. I thought they might of got into the overflow since this is the only place they could get out since the top is covered. The overflow is too but at their size (around 1.5 inches) they could fit in the small openings.

Anyway I check the overflow and sock filter and nothing.

Night two I check at 11:00 and there are the 5 sleeping on the side of the overflow but almost on the ground. At 11:40 I check again and there are four! So I check the overflow and nothing. This morning I check again and there are 3!

Usually if they would of died my hermits would be seen eating them immediately. I look and all the hermits are spread thoughout the tank.

The other inhabitants are blue tang, foxface, one clown, blueface angel, coral beauty, and unknown crab. My thought are that the crab did it but he is a proven vegi eater and would not eat 4 fish!

    Anyway any ideas? Thanks.

There is zero chance they jumped into anything but the overflow, and they aren't there.

The two who disappeared have to be dead since they haven't eaten. The two that disappeared last night ate three times yesterday so I guess they could be hiding.

On a side note another reason I am so mad, is that they did their job as dither fish! My tank has never been so active as the last couple days!

I hope they don't all disappear!

Edit: Just checked ammonia in the tank and it is still reading 0.

anthias have a high death rate during acclimation as they are deeper water fish. Were they eating before you got them? They could all be hiding still..........I had 5 anthias and lost one of them and there was one that never hung out with others and was always hid in a rock

Yeah they were all eating, and ate with me when I could find them. I really think it is the crab though. I guess I just never had such small fish for him to catch. He was creeping over to where they sleep at night when he saw me and ran back to his cave.

I will try to catch him this weekend and put him in the sump.

Here is a picture of the crab. I took when I moved everyone to the 180. I left him in because I never lost a fish to him, and his favorite meal zoa's wouldn't be available.

Last night I watched them better. Two slept in the sand, and the other decided to go sleep under a rock. Well the two that slept on the sand are still around. The other one is added to the MIA pile.

I have never lost so many fish. I haven't lost a fish from non jumping in a really really long time. So frustrating.
