    hi all

i got a yellow/green nudi said to eat algae but after 5 days of it running around looking for food and not finding anything i rang lfs they than said they only sell lettuce slug and blue dori

i dont think this is a lettuce slug can you help with ID and food but i think food will now be a long shot as the research i have done in the last 2-3 days say that all nudis are a real problem to get food for

Looks like a lettuce nudibranch to me.. Well aside from the cool bluish color and gold speckling, but body shape appears that way.

Inwall sure knows his inverts he'll tell you if I am right or if its something else.

If it is a lettuce sea slug they tend to eat diatoms, and also filamentious algae, well as long as its not to long.

Yes, that's it of course. It's a spectacular nudibranch, and a shame they are essentially impossible to keep in aquaria. Maybe a hundred years from now their food sponges will all be known and aquacultured (but the world probably needs a few dozen more sponge taxonomists for that to happen, I suppose).

    Cheers,

    Don

Not. It's a true nudibranch, and feeds only on sponges, probably only on one or a couple of species of dysideid sponges. "Lettuce Sea Slugs" don't have an external gill (nor blue spots).

    Cheers,

What? Lettuce sea slugs don't even eat bryopsis, at least with any regularity.

I was under the impression that there is no animal known that eats bryopsis.
