Okay, I am new to sw and just got my "new, but used" remora w/drain fitting and mj 1200 today from an ebay user. All of the equipment looked to be included from the website and it is running good. Ok, this may be a very stupid question to all you mechanically inclined people, but how do I use the drain fitting on the side? It is white and came with a white tube, also the collection cup has a hole on the top of it, is this something for overflow or what? I would love a pic of someones that is hooked up right, I don't have a clue if it is right or not. I have got nothing in the cup and the black ring is about halfway now, but it has only been running a couple of hours. It has been really well cleaned, so I assume it needs to be broken in. Please help and Thanks in advance!
My tank has been up a few months, if that matters.

Once the inside of the skimmer develops a slime coat, it will start pulling some good stuff. The collection cup lid has a hole on it for the air to escape, its nothing to worry about. Initially set the collection cup as high as it goes just to be safe, it can later be adjusted for darker or lighter skimmate. The black drain fitting on the side can be attached to a clear tube of the same width. The tube would go to a waste container. This can be any plastic container that holds a couple of gallons of liquid.

Initially point the drain tube directly into the tank just to be safe. Sometimes when the Remora has been cleaned well it will suddenly become overactive and create enormous amount of bubbles and half of your tank water will be on the floor while you are still in rem sleep.

Once the bubbles settle down and skimmer is predictable, then you can put the drain tube back in the waste container. Not all Remora skimmers will become overactive, just in some cases, but its better to be safe.

You are welcome. There is also a simple modification you can make to the Aqua C Remora that will make it 70% quieter. I will make a video tomorrow and post it here.

That would be great! Sorry to ask such odd questions, but the online manual doesn't give me much to go on. Also, with the o-ring, does this go above or below the drain, and to get a drier skim do I go higher or lower with it? Thanks so much for being so helpful and patient!

Sorry i didnt have time to make the video but i will post some pictures on that mod.

The o ring can go below or above the drain, just depends on how dry you want the skimmate to be. When the ring is set higher, the collection cup will go down all the way in and you will get a very wet skimmate. When the 0 ring is lower it pushes the collection cup high giving you a darker stinkier skimmate :)

Also you might want to clean the injector, this will make the skimmer work like brand new.

Can you tell us what diameter hose is needed for the drain fitting? Aqua C doesn't seem to have it anywhere in their documentation. (I'm going to buy one so I don't have one to measure.)
Also, are you going to post those photos/video of mods?
    thanks. -J
