You also have to keep in mind not every lfs supplies seachem products. Only one of my lfs does and surprisingly its not the better of the two. If they don't have seachem just look at all the Ph buffering products as most will also increase the alkalinity. What package did you get from BRS as I thought that it increased Ph?

What time of the day are you testing your ph? There will be a natural swing from morning to night is why I'm asking. I wouldn't worry to much about your ph. Paying more attention to a stable ca/alk/mag will balance things out. Personally I wouldn't start messing with a ph buffer. To risky :)

We tested ph during the daytime. Lights had been on for a few hours.

When you do that you find this in the products description.

Marine Bufferâ„¢ will safely raise marine pH to 8.3. It will not raise pH above 8.3 even if inadvertently overdosed.

Haha sorry Bri that was for the "looks over shoulder" comment the other day. 8)

yes start with what they recommend. it will take care of both your ph and alk . since you need to raise both i think this will work well for you. if you get to the point were you have to just raise one or the other than look into two part dosing.
you could start with the two part instead of this product. and just dose for ph and alk. there really are so many products out there for this. but the seachem is a good product .. that at this time will work well for you.
you said you have sps corals? whats your calcium at?

I think seachem reef builder would be a better way to go it will raise the alkalinity , and that will bring the ph up on its own. the alkalinity level is a more important level to watch because ph swings all the time from several things. light and co2 levels in the house just to mention a few.

What is your calcium and mag at? If alk is low I would believe calcium and mg would be low as well.
