Need help with pump

    Brand new setup, so no sand or anything yet. hopefully the putty works will try tonight.I was told by alot of ppl that the gasket should be enough but isn't.

    Put some 3 in 1 oil on the threads of the bulkhead before you tighten it so it will crank down smooth and tight.
    Just a couple of drops will do.

    My only suggestion before putting the putty, is to look closely at the gasket and make sure theres no cuts, holes or anything that might compromise the seal. Maybe all you need is a new gasket. I dont like putting/use anything with chemicals in or outside the aquarium. The only " chemical " I use is the pvc cement and I wait a long time before starting the pump.

    Plumbers putty is totally safe I've used it 100's of times and as a Rule I'll do that same thing with any bulkhead I install just to besure its a solid seal.

    HI,
    Be careful with oil based lubricants they can and will dissolve any rubber products and may cause some gasket failure.
