long story short, I have a 125 long and the bottom panel is cracked. I want to replace it, but I have no knowledge as to what to expect. Is there anything I need to look out for, or things to pay close attention to when doing this. any special silicone to use? Is this something that is worth the risk or should I just buy new ? Any info that you guys can share or advice from your own builds would be a great help.

    Thanks in advance, Bryan

Ive never done this with a base panel - In truth I did it once, but I never had faith in what I had done and thus only risked it with 6 inches of water and kept terrapins in it

but Im pretty sure it can be done - maybe talking to your LFS or whoever you intend to purchase the new glass base from, as maybe they can help remove the old one and silicone the new one in place

Also keep an eye on craigs list for tanks. I was offered a 72" 125 gallon of $25 because the back glass is cracked. so deals are out there. i actully posted that i will take any tank in any condition. i have gotten several replies and if the price is right or even better free you can piece them together for yourself or resale.
