    Hi all,

Need some help. My buddy got this with his sump. It's a euro-reef RS100 skimmer. I'm looking at this thing, and can't figure out if he's missing something. Pictured are the complete thing, the pump, the foam, and the vertical pipe.

Here are the questions....reading online, from what I've found, it's best in 7" of water. No problem. The pump, well that's easy, so no problem. BUT, isn't there supposed to be some kind of flow control device on the vertical pipe in pic #3? From the images I've seen online, people show it with with foam placed over the vertical pipe, and that's it.

Anyone know how this thing is supposed to operate? Your help is very appreciated.

For anyone else wondering, I got my answer on another forum. The vertical pipe actually moves up and down to adjust the water level in the skimmer. I don't know how I didn't figure this out. I tried twisting it and moving, but it didn't budge. Applied more force and it was the o-ring that was a little dry and sticking. Now it's all good.
