I just bought a used tank and it came with an in sump protein skimmer that was missing a few parts. I wasnt familiar with the style but after some research I noticed it was missing a volturi valve. I tried a DIY version and it failed. water keeps pouring out of the collection cup, return, and what should be the air tube. give I tested it in freshwater, would it really make that much difference? any help would be appreciated thanks :)

The venturi needs to be on the input side of the pump. This allows the pump to draw in air. On the output side, as you have it, the pump will just push water out of it.

Otherwise, you did a good job DIYing one.
