Well Im gathering all my equipment for my canopy that is in process of being built...

Im gonna have two 250w DE Sunlight Supply Lumen Max 3's...

This is where I need help.. I was eyeballing this t5 kit....
54W 48" T5 RETROFIT KIT Tek Sunlight Supply - English

Anything that would make me not wanna get these? Also I noticed that the IceCap kits are a bit more money. Why?

My basic understanding Tatted4ever is that the Ice cap ballasts over drive the lamps
and thus the lamp is generating more light = more par from the same wattage tube

but as you will be running this as supplemental lighting (actinic?) in addition to MH lamps
then my opinion is you may just as well use the work horse ballasts that come with the Tek retro fit kit and save a few bucks

    Makes good sense... thanks Steve.
I will be running these as supplemental lighting (actinic)

fwiw i replaced the odyssea ballasts in my fixture with those workhorse 5 ballasts that come with the T5 retro kit you linked, and they work great. there is a noticeable difference in light output from the old ballast.

thats about all i got regarding that kit. looks like a good price too

No reason not to get it, excellent components. I think you are paying for the name with IceCap even if you get their non-overdriven kit. You will not be sorry.

    Cool good info

Yea.... its not gonna be the main lighting. just supplemental... So I think I should be good.

Even I had the extra dollars still probably wouldnt get the icecaps.
