    After hours of endless searching i have not come up with any answers to what is growing in my cycling reef tank..this thing is about 2 inches tall, transparent and growing at an extremely fast rate.

    It's a macroalgae....possibly Caulerpa. I would remove it.

    +1, looks like caulerpa without any leaves yet. Tangs love that stuff. I keep some in my display for my hippo tang. If you have a fish that will keep it under control or if you trim it once every couple of weeks it will be ok. It is beneficial to have in your tank, most keep it in their sump though.
