need inf, about fluidized filters

I will like to know how this filter works and if this type of filter is apropiate for my sistem?

If you are referring to a fluidized filter like the old red sea Merlin's ? Then they do a great job I ran one on a sps /lps 100 gal for yrs .. These are very efficient filters and easy to maintain and to set up. They work about like the Phosphate reactors do in that it just requires a slow flow My 100 acrylic was filtered used a Maxi jet 600 and that was cut down to less then 1/2 way of its out put .

 

I have more questions, Is this filter more eficient than a w/d ? Can I switch from w/d with out disturbing my tank?
