This is for a 20 gallon long build. Its a rough draft just trying to get the main design down. Looking for good suggestions :)

I could be wrong but from what I understand, you want the bubble trap baffles right before the return pump. Who cares if there are micro bubbles in your fuge, you don't want them in your display tank. I am no fuge designer by any means, just what i have read and heard. I think one baffle between the skimmer and the fuge section would be fine, then put your 3 baffle bubble trap between the fuge and the return pump sections.

If the flow is slow enough, then the water going into the return chamber should be bubble free, I see no issues there, unless your moving huge GPH through the sump. I would ditch the "filter media" (unless its small live rock / rubble), you wont need any more than your live rock, skimmer and fuge. Its just 1 more thing that needs to be maintained that doesn't really need to be there.

Any plans for a media reactor?

Yeah i got to thinking about that after i read around some more so i think ill just have the protein skimmer compartment over flow into the fuge witht he baffles inbetween the return and fuge ..... thanks for pointing that out.

Im only going to go with a 700 return pump and a 800 gph overflow box. Im also looking at getting a 2 little fishy phos ban reactor.

Have to redo sump design then lol

You can run them external, but if they ever leak for whatever reason you will wish you put it in your sump. I'm putting mine in with the skimmer in the sump I will soon be building.
