I just purchased my first tank that will use a sump. Its the new 93 Gallon cube from marineland. It is 30x30x24 and has an internal overflow with 2, 1 5/8 inch holes.

The plumbing that was included is the drain which looks like a candy cane about 2 inches in diameter, the long side tapers down and goes into a bulkhead. the threaded end of the bulkhead that goes through the glass is 1.5 inches. the return is narrower, it looks like 1 inch pvc and goes into the same size bulkhead. so i assume the plumbing on both the drain and return is 1 inch, does this sound right?

I need help with sump/fuge and plumbing. I was looking at the ADHI model 30 refugium, it has a 1 inch hose barb for the drain, and a 3/4 inch hose barb for the return. Is it normal to run a 3/4 inch return then expand it at the bulk head so it matches up? Also what pump and gph do i need? is an internal or external pump best? is the ADHI good?

Any help is appreciated. I would like any sump/fuge recommendations as i am constrained with the dimensions of the tank. Is it better to use pvc or the spa flex tubing?

    help. thanks

spa flex will help reduce noise. most often the drain is 1" and return is 3/4'.
a 600-800 gph pump will work nicely, maybe a mag 7.

yea spa flex is easy to work with, but i would come out of the sump with pvc, then use flex in the middle, then use pvc at the end. the pvc makes it more steardy and the flex will make it easy to move it a little if needed or whatever. (thats what i did)
