Lately I noticed that I'm not getting much out of my skimmer. I have a SeaLife 150 in-sump. I have a good amount of live stock, so I'd think I get a good amount of stuff out. Now I only get about an inch of bubbles at the top of the water line. In order to get any skimmate, I have to have the water line at the bottom of the bowl.

I'm using a Rio 2100 (692gph @0 head) to power the skimmer, which I would also think to be plenty. But still not enough bubbles with the air tube completely open.

Would ya'll (southern accent :) ) suggest to get a bigger pump, modify the air inlet on the skimmer, or just leave it alone.

btw, how does one know the skimmer is doing it's job? I have 0 nitrites, 20 or less nitrates, on my seachem test kit, and 0 ammonia.

thanks for you experience and help!!!!

Have you ensured that all parts are clean. I'm not 100% how the air is brought into that skimmer but there must be a Venturi or something. If it's dirty then your air will be coming in great guns but the Venturi can not create the smaller bubbles. This way the big bubble just breaking the tube and no skimming is done. Make Sense??

Yeah, Ill pull the skimmer out and clean the venturi...I blew into the air line as hard as I could, to blow out any stuff, but that may not be enough...

    Ill try!!!
