    Hi All,

well its six months and the Jbj true temp controller/heater is proving not to now be a true temp ....temp reading is off by 4 degrees, which means the heater doesnt kick in till later, and it wont calibrate. so my tank is running colder than normal. im a bit annoyed it has a 6 month warranty, and guess what its just over 6 months. i will not be buying another of thier heaters. thats just to fast it was 99.00 i expected more than six months out of it.

ok my rant is over now... ;D So what heaters do you recommend? what heaters do you think stay away from? im thinking normal titanium heater this time no fancy controller that poops out after a few months

UPDATE: unplugged the jbj the reading is all over the place and off by 5 degrees now.

UPDATE on 2-11-11 : jbj has a offered to send me out replacement parts. :) hope it fixes it. i already bought a new jager heater. but i think its great that jbj is willing to take care of the problem

Titanium heaters are good, but I don't know of any good brands. Ebo-Jager is considered one of the best heaters available.

I bought a blue line and I control it with my reef keeper lighting have a marine land shatter proof one that runs as a back up just it case. Both have served me well. I would never use a glass one again though that's for sure.

    so true :(
so you know how i feel , not sure why these companys cant give you your moneys worth. 93 days thats crazy!

i plan on doing getting the apex controller i have been holding off on purchasing, this is jbj heater controller failing is making me make the move. and using it to control the normal cheaper heaters power. so if the heater gets stuck on the power will get shut down to it. i will look into the blueline. havent seen that one. thanks

just looked at the blue line heater. so do you have the optional controller for it? or is it completely controlled by your reef keeper?

bought a jager submersible heater, all i read about them has been good. the only complaints are that they aren't submersible. well they are now, it apears they fixed that. i know its glass but they have a great record for lasting and keeping the tank temp very close. without a lot of fluctuation . so im going to give it a shot.

    thanks everyone for your help.

    I don't think there's a real need for anything other than glass...unless you have a hard-headed fish ;) .
