Completely by the reefkeeper. The heater is just a tube with a plug that plugs into something to control the in and off. A friend of mine had a glass heater that managed to break in the sump while he wasn't home and electricuted all of his fish. That is why I wont ever buy one. Im not sure how or why it happened but id rather not take the risk you know?

I do like the new Fluval heaters with the plastic cage and LCD displays..

Aren't the cheapest but at a glance from across the room you know the temp is good.

thats why its good to have a grounding probe in your sump. when there is stray voltage it kicks the gfi and shuts every thing off.

i ordered the jagar and will use it till i get a apex controller, than i can use the titanium one from the failed jbj set up. ( bad jbj controller but the titanium heating wand is ok)
right now im using a 50 watt titanium heater i had for my 6 gallon. i cant believe its working somewhat.
i have another 50 watt i use to make saltwater if i have to i can put that in the sump also. but so far one 50 watt is working ???? this surprises me since my tank/water volume size calls for a 150 watt heater in most brand heaters

you will like the jager, I have two and they work great for my 75. I also have them hooked up to my RKL which keeps the temp spot on, but before I had it the jager worked great by itself. You wont be disappointed.

they say their glass is thicker than others. i read one person stepped on theirs by accident and it was ok. only thing im worried about is i had the shield on my titanium heater to protect the hot from touching anything or getting burnt from it.
i worry about this because i have a acrylic sump.

the shield is one of the reasons i bought the jbj heater that failed.

It changes the screen colur to red when temp gets higher then set, also flashes red and LF displayed when there isn't any 'flow" around the heater.

Quite impressed with it. Will be using more of them on my FW tanks as they are replaced over time.

Oh and my Mandrin like to peck pods out of the plastic caging.. heheh

I have a fluval too but I've had problems with it's adjustment. At times when I tried to raise or lower the temp By a half degree or more it would only adjust in one direction. I'd have to reset it multiple times to get it to behave/or play games with the adjustment knob by moving it all the way to one direction just to get the adjustment I want in the other. Other then that it's keeps temps spot on. Just wish they made higher than 300w.

hey zoban i looked into this heater its not fully submersible. its going in my sump and i need to be able to place it sideways :( i liked the plastic guard on it.

i ordered the jager heater, no plastic guard :( but need to buy a heater to get me threw till it arrives. i figure this way i will use the one i like best and keep the other for a backup. right now im using a 50 watt that i have for mixing saltwater and its struggling to keep the temp up. im at 75.6 i like to keep my tank at 77-78
