well the jager heater has been in my tank for almost 12 hours now and is holding a constant 76 degrees. i might leave it there instead of the 77 i normally go for. anyway all this heater bull.... has i believed caused my xenia to crash. im hoping the small pieces pop back up and regenerate. and now my flame wrasse i believe has ich..

i finally got jbj to contact me , Now i know why another person said they didnt like jbj products and would not go into detail.

Sorry for your troubles. Good thing you have a working heater now. Hopefully it stays that was for longer than the JBJ.

Where did you see that? I got one (Fluval E-Series 200) a week ago and luv it so far. Nowhere on the box did it say that it's not fully submersible. Mine is fully submerged and it's working great.

Thanks :) its reading a constant 76 now never see it anything but 76 on either temp probe now :) ( i have 2 temp probes in different spots of my sump)

i figured it should say fully submersible if it is. they even will say can be placed vertically and horizontally. most that say just submersible also show a run line were they want it submersed to. so i looked for a fully submersible heater. i could be wrong ?????? but i didnt want to chance a problem

update..... jbj replaced the bad part and it seems to work now. but at this time im going to use the jager heater on the jbj controller. this will give me a failsafe. after reading about another's jbj heater staying on when the controller malfunctioned. i think its best to hook the controller to a heater with its own thermostat. this will give me 2 thermostats.

im thinking the jbj heating element will be good for heating fresh saltwater. since it wont need a thermostat to heat fresh water to tank temp, i will be the thermostat for that :)

on the xenia front...... after the xenia crash from the heater malfunction ????? i believe, since it happened than, but who knows with xenia????? i put in a fresh chemi pure ( even though it wasnt due for a while ) to get any chemicals the crashing xenia might have left in the water. did 3 water changes in the three weeks waited a bit than 2 days ago i purchased 2 frags of xenia. it seems to be thriving

Nice! Good way of putting the controller to use. Two failsafes are better than one :) .

    How's the KH going?

my kh is at 12-13 right now :( it was at 17 at one time. i always seem to have high kh and low ph even when i get the kh lower my ph is a problem, only time it was right was when i was using kalk. i plan on starting the kalk again today. i give up on this bottled and easy stuff. its pricey and doesnt work as well as kalk. kalk is so much cheaper and keeps things more stable. its just a pain mixing it but oh well, i feel for me its the best way.
thought about a reactor, but since you just add the kalk every 2 weeks i wonder if at the end of the 2 weeks the kalk would be weak and have a lower kalk saturation than when you first added the kalk at the beginning of the 2 weeks?????? if i mix it and add it to the top off as i was doing its the same all the time. same = more stable
