oh there have been many comparisons done and the arguments(really debates) keep going. With the LED evolution there is even more lighting questions to add to the mix. 2in10 has good knowledge on the differences and could probably help, also search for threads as like I said there have been many debates.

However Steve Wright has an amazing SPS tank and has recently switched to MH lighting but you may need to give him some time to see what differences it makes. He is dealing with some brown out and is not sure if it is just his T5 setup(did not have individual reflectors) or if MH will actually make a difference.

If you can hold off on the purchase I would give Steve a couple months as it may be worth your while.

JUST posted then noticed 2in10 chimed in.

I've read tons of debates. And I've found that most of the people who are negative towards LEDS, have never actually ran them. I'm also not sure that I have ever seen where someone has switched to LED and gave them a bad review, this may not be true but usually once someone switches they like them. There's no doubt that MH lighting works and can grow great corals. But I've seen where alot of SPS keepers are starting to really like the LED for growth.
