I am thinking about getting some for our 75 gal. What do you think? What breeds are best?

I would get a fighting conch, thats the name. Queens and many of the others get too large, the fighting conchs get to be a fair size but it takes time. They are docile contrary to their name...and they are one of the few snails that is effective for eating algae off of the sand....

I have a fighting conch. Cool freaking invert. Althought when he's mowed down one area be sure to move him. Mine is ultra lazy about moving himself to another area with higher food content.

They're great little critters. Good at sifting your sand too.

I agree with the Fighting Conch. Mine isn't lazy at all, actually, and manages to move around the entire tank. Pretty peaceful with other tankmates.

I have one, I love it. cross between a snail and an elephant. They get maxed out around 4" but usually come in under 2" when you get them. You could probably have 2 no problem, 3 or 4 if they're under 2" but they will out grow the tank if you have 4 (so I am told).

Mine is very active all day and all night, moves 4-5 inches, buries itself then sticks out its trunk and gets to work for an hour, then all over again.

They do have a sharp razor edge on their foot that can cut, so careful handling them. LFS kid got cut by mine getting it out. more of a thump than a cut, (no blood) but it startled him pretty good :p.

they do a lot of stir sand just moving around, because of their size. When they burrow it gets even better.
