OK, trying to select as quiet as possible good quality Skimmer for for my 70 G to be placed in a 20 G L DIY Sump. The tank will be in the living room.

I had a Aqua C Remora on a previous tank and that thing was pretty loud, even with muffling with a sponge. That info is just to guage my noise tollerance since noise is in the ear of the beholder.

Right now, just based on quality of product and reputation I'm leaning on the Euro-Reef RS100, or the ASM knockoff of the same. I've seen people put mufflers on on the venturi tube to quiet the air noise, but I've also read of people saying they can hear the sedra pump vibration a whole floor away.

I'm open to any skimmer product, and would probably consider almost any price as long as it is quiet and fits in the 20 G L DIY Sump.

I installed this plastic lined with black tubing and covered the spray chamber, can't even hear it. I can hear the fan for lights more. I tried the sponge and didn't quiet it as much.

Yeah, I'm not trying to fix my Aqua C Remora. It is what it is and I don't need it to be quiet.

I'm looking at a new tank buildup and would love to hear others suggestions on quiet sump skimmers. The lifereef is a good suggestion, but I'm concerned that its design is just outdated and wouldn't hold a candle to the Euro-Reef RS100 and its knockoffs as far as skimming performance.

Certainly I would love to hear more about peoples experience with the smaller lifereef skimmers and comparisons with the Euro-Reefs. Particularly with regards to noise.

It is a great skimmer. It is very quiet, at least for us. I ran one for a while but decided to install a Tunze because it gave me more room to work in the sump...It is only a 25 gallon sump and it took up a lot of space...You should be very happy. It started pulling skimmate from the get go...8)
