I do 20% bi-weekly--should I use epsom with my salt mix while doing water changes or dose later?

Adding epsom salt or magnesium sulfate is going to raise your mg. Only add to salt water if you are trying to raise magnesium levels. Prepared water for water changes may need some mg adjustment prior to doing a w/c. So, to answer your question. "Kinda".

You'll be fine with epsom salt. Is your magnesium level low?

I personally use the MgCl from bulkreefsupply. I just bought a bucket of CaCl and the MgCl for $30, which is 7lbs of each. If you buy from them 3 times and write reviews, you get a permanent discount on most of the products they sell. I love using their products and it's one of the best, if not the best bargain around.

I got stuck at 400, couldn't get it any higher... adding Mg enabled me to raise that number and it kept that number from dropping (as fast)... sounds like you got good advise.

Be sure you test your Mg before supplementing... I would test it the day after supplementing as well.
