Ok when I first got into the hobby I was told on a few skimmer on what to get and look for but I went with the coral life super skimmer. I asked around and people said its alright but not the best or extremely good quality. I went with the 225 gallon super skimmer for my 120g tank with 40g sump. I have had problems with it in the past where it will over flow randomly and not produce bubbles for a certain period of time. Well now it does not produce any bubbles at all. In the past month I told them my problem and they sent a new needle wheel. It worked for a total of 3 days then went out. It has not produced any micro bubbles whatsoever since. I have cleaned it and there is nothing going on in there. I have a 65g super skimmer on the tank but there is no telling how long that will last. I contacted them again with the problem about 3 weeks ago and they said it was the height of the pump in the water, it wasn't wrong but they were blaming it on me.

So now I am forced to spend money out of my own pocket for either a new skimmer or needle wheel because of a faulty product only lasting a total of one year!

What skimmers do you recommend for a 160g ratio? I am not really wanting to fork out the money on new internal parts just to have them go out in a few months.

oh and what i meant by micro bubbles is the bubbles in the chamber, its as clear as day no skimmate production what so ever, and also I do maintenance on it every 2 months and allowed for break in period with new parts.

The skimmer I have now is a rated 225G Coral Life Super Skimmer. I wouldn't even know what to price it at now.

I see you can get them for around $200 new so I am not sure what I would charge seeing as it is malfunctioning and no warranty on it. I am selling my 65g super skimmer once I can find a replacement for my 220g super skimmer thats on the frits. But that was promised to a friend for 65 dollars.

Some thing is wrong... skimmers do not "stop" making bubbles after a year for no reason. The Super skimmers are not the best, but they do make bubbles. If there is no air at all, the air line is plugged somewhere. Salt creep will fill the venturi and plug it. Check that.

Needle wheels can get crap in them and the quality of bubbles can be reduced, but a new needle wheel does not fix air problems.
