need snail ID asap

    found this snail with sort of a half shell type thing...saw him the other night but he disappeared while trying to grab him...got him now though, so let me should he go back in the tank or not...he's about 3/4 inch long when stretched out...

    Stomatella, good guys. Sort of like small abalone's.
    I had a post a few moths back....I think thats what it is...let the others chime in to be sure though. But I think your cool.

    thanks LG, I googled it and it seems to be the critter I got, so far I got him and a micro turbo from these rocks, I hope there are more of them...he's pretty fast, as soon as he hit the tank bottom he was off like shot...

    If you managed to find one, there is likely 50+ more hiding around somewhere (they tend to appear more after lights go out). But yes, its definitely stomatella varia- one of the most common hitchikers. Great algae grazers, and they populate quite quickly! Good find.
