Looking at purchasing a 1/4 cylinder tank that measures 32" on each side, and around 46" across, and 30" deep, its roughly 96g. My question for all of you that have purchased the taotronics led's. Could I get away with one of the dimmable 120w? or would I need 2? I also have noticed they have added a 212w version, where I could place one of: Amazon.com: TaoTronics New Design LED Aquarium Coral Reef Tank Blue White 2:1 LED Grow Light 212W: Patio, Lawn & Garden although not dimmable from what I can see. What advice would you provide me? one or two? I want to keep everything I can, maybe not clams.. thx

I have no experience with those lights, so I'm just stopping by to give a bump and say that's an awesome sounding tank.

you will probably need 2 at least and the 30 inch depth is were you will most likly have issues. what type of coral do you want to keep?

30" is pretty tall, but with some creative rockwork you could probably get away with 1 IF you are only keeping coral right under the light. In my experience 1 fixture will not cover a 4' tank, but I've never lit a round tank so I have no idea how it will work.

Shipping is free so you could just buy 1 and if it's not enough grab a 2nd one.

One downside to the non-dimmable version is you can't play around with the color very easily.

I wouldnt waste your money on that one you linked. "they're Redesign" now has all the blues clustered on both ends and two huge all white spots in the middle. I think if you went with this company get the older version which has a good mix of the white and blue spread out. Factor in dif of cost for the dimmable and you'd be sorry not paying the lil bit extra.

BTW 30" deep. How high are you planning on mounting this light. Most i have seen have it 6-12" above. I may be wrong but that would be almost 3-3.5 feet. Narrow optics for penetration i would think in that case.

About 1 or two, If you dont have corals and rockwork going out to the sides and leave a 6 inch gap at least. That would reduce the need of light covereage by 12" in diameter shortening the span to be only 34". depending on how much space you leave clear on the sides will determine how many you need. If you build a tower in the center of the tank lets say and leave 12inches of swimming room between rock and tank wall, you would only need to have the light covering 24x24 inches for your coral grwoth so you could get by with one. All depends on how you set it up.
