Agree with this. My crocea does fine on the sand as long as there is a flat rock under it to give it a foot hold. Also if you had micro bubbles did you try burping it again? May have some trapped air.

It is on a rock...... I placed a couple of flatter LR under it and up until it started displaying PMD it was securely fastened and upright on the rock. As for getting nipped, that may be a possibility.

I can't keep my maxima on a rock no matter where it is in the tank, she jumps ship to the sand bed no matter what i do. Not pumped about leaving it there as its my smallest clam, but what do ya do to?

    Good luck Alex

i have a dersa & a maxima that i have grown from about 3". fastforward 3.5 yrs. the dersa is now about 9" (boy they grow fast). it has had PMD twice, and both times i did the freshwater dip multiple times until it was back to normal. the maxima has had PMD only once during the 3+ yrs i've had it. it developed the condition shortly after the dersa got it the second time. i did the freshwater dip on it twice, and after the second treatment it was fine and has been ever since. it never grew very much before PMD. it must have stayed around 2 - 3" for about a year then all of the sudden started to see growth. it is now around 5" and doing well. i would say don't be afraid to do a FW dip if conditions get worse. although, i wouldn't leave it in the dip longer than 5 mins at a time.
