I don't know where they came up with their dosages but look at all the other 10 or 15 vendors on the market, they are all about 1/2 the amount and many like TLF have been doing it for years.

How are you plumbing it? I hang mine on the side of the sump and its fine. If you don't have a sump you can hang it on the side or back of the display or place it in your stand and plumb it down and back up to the display. Either way the 400 will work great since in the stand you will have positive pressure down from the display like in a closed loop, all you are doing is keeping movement going.

The NextReef reactors are well made and solid. The way they seal prevents leakage due to to much flow through the reactor. What size tank is this going on? The normal MR1 is HUGE. If you want to run it on a small tank (up to 90gallons), the MR1 shorty would work well on it.

Short answer... when it is needed.
Correct answer, when you test and see a rise in phospates.
    Personally, once a month. I don't test.

i use the phosban reactor as well. but my beef is with the media. i used to run rowaphos which was a good product and did the job, but i hated having to flush the reactor every time change is needed.it created brown soiled water that needs to be flushed before use in our systems.

Now i use bio pellets. best thing i have ever done. you know its doing its job when the pellets start to widdle away and all you have to do is top off with more. not sure about the science behind it but it does work.
