    K my mom got me a Green Mandarin so put him in my 40g. I know he eats tons of pods. my tank is full of em now but i dont want him to starve so i want to add a refugium. Which do u think is better for a 40g tank, The smaller or larger one? Has anyone tried these? Im so confused!!!!

    i wouldnt get either of those...just go to wal mart in the bath tub area, for 4$ you can get one of these and just place it in some medium flow area...

    i got this for my old 20 gallon i had set up and i honestly have never seen more pods in a tank that size ever...seriously pods were all over the place..sand, floating everywhere in the water column, all over rocks...and it holds a good bit of cheato and you run it off your display lights...

    Thats really smart saintsfan! This may be a dumb Q but just. why does a fuge help with the pod population so much? why don't they populate in the DT?

    Thats such a great idea!!!! Do u think its big enough to have enough pods for a mandarin? if so im so doing it lol!!!!

    So not a dumb Q! I wondered myself too! Im not sure about everyone else but in my situation a fuge is a safe place for pods to grow. I need em to feed Mandy lol yes thats his name ;D In Dt Mandy would eat em all before they could reproduce and hed starve, so ive been told.....

    Oh I see duh.. that makes sense.. like a little breeding ground for them.. I hope it works out for you so Mandy can be fat and healthy :D

    I have always wanted a mandarin ever since I saw one.. I just would worry it would starve... I love little fatty fish :p

    Thats my worry too, Im going to do everything in my power to keep him from that! Hes going to have too many pods hopefully, even if i have to order em every week ;D Same here! The fatter the better hehehe
