I looking to add some pop to the tank. I currently have a t5ho setup with 1 white 1 purple and 2 blue bulbs. I want to give the tank a little more pop and that crisp look with some leds Im not looking to go hardcore with some crazy high led lights since i will be using my t5s for growing. just something bright enough to see when my t5s are on as well. Im thinking maybe i can just get away with using some blue leds. I would like to have more blue for the moonlights as well. My question is whats the cheapest way i can do this? Is there some bright blue led strips out there on the market?? not looking to really build anything dont have the time. so plug n play would be best. I just spent over 300 on my lighting so my budget is very high would like to find maybe just a strip of blue leds to start with and i can always add in a white strip as well later. My tank is 48 inch. wide. any input would be great.

Exoxotic Stunner strips are going to be your best friend...They are modular, dimmable, and will give you the "Pop" you need...IMO..they are the most affordable and have a great track record...

Ill have to look into that.. do you have a link??
I found a local place that said they will build me a 48 in strip with a total of 20 leds 5 per section for around 60 bucks which didnt seem to bad.. Do you think i should go with white and blue or will the t5s over power the white ? And just go with blue.. since it seems like my lighting is already pretty white..

found the stunner strip link thanks. Think it may be cheaper to build one or have one built.. 49 for one stunner strip plus buying the power pack .. and i will need two stunner strips. that will put me around 150.

Stunner strips aren't going to be strong enough to penetrate for good coral growth at the bottom of a 55g tank. They are supposed to be accent lighting, or use in shallow tanks.

The panorama strips are meant for reef tanks, but they run about $99 each, plus the driver at $26, which only works for 3 strips max (splitters are an additional cost, too). I think you see where I am going with this. It would bee fairly expensive your your tank. You would need about 6 - 8 strips, I think.

For that price you could try 2 AI Sols, which are controllable. I think that should cover well too.

Well I'm not needing anything for coral growth. I have a t5ho set up that will provide that. Just wanting to add some leds for color.

Oh, my mistake. Stunner strips should be fine for that, then. hvae you thought about a DIY LED build using Cree LEDS from www.rapidled.com ?

yeah the stunner strips look great, or for some great coral growth too you could add a couple panorama modules.
