So as of right now, i have a somewhat overstocked 29g with fish..I am going to remove 2 of them and put them in the 14g for the time being..

The ones i will try and remove are a Randalli goby and Neon dottyback(Dought ill catch it) if i can cant get he neon, ill remove the firefish or sixline.

I am thinking of another goby such as YWG or a diamond goby.

I want the one that is better for a reef and that has good personality..Whats your opinion?

Both are compatible. Which one looks better to you? I like the Yellow.

They both are cool to me..I like the yellow also, seems like it would stand out better. I only want one though. I dont want to deal with high nitrates.

I had a couple of Diamond Watchman gobies in the past. Loved their personalities. I had my tank like a peninsula, and wherever I sat (couch or chair), he'd come over to see what I was doing and proceed to sift right there in that spot LOL.

The orange-spot and the 6-spot I have now are the same way, come and check you out if you're close to the tank. The 6-spot reminds me very much of my original Diamond goby (now that he's settled down, that is). He's a bit more active, though. When he thinks it's time to eat, he gets very excited and paces the side wall of the tank when I get home, then hovers mid-tank while I stand there getting the food ready like I can't see him. Soon as food hits the water, he's eating it mid-tank. The orange-spot reminds him when he's in the wrong territory by threatening him, and as soon as he gets run off, he "kicks" sand at the orange-spot. Definitely personality plus.

I think a 29 would be too small for 2 of them. I actually think the 55 is pushing it, but they do have enough space to keep away from each other & have their own space. The orange spot stays on one side and the 6-spot on the other. The orange-spot is pretty protective of his area, and sometimes will venture out further to intimidate everyone else (including the cardinals), while the 6-spot will sometimes sneak over to the other side to sift when the orange-spot isn't looking. I think if the tank was smaller, we'd have at least one dead fish.

Sorry I didn't give my tank size in the original post!

Edit: You'll have to have a top on the tank. The 6-spot jumped into the overflow an hour after we got him & I've heard (but not experienced with my 2) that the Diamonds will do the same.

Hector's goby and Rainford's goby (or jester) look very similar, but the Rainford's is not very hardy. So make sure if you want the Hector's, you get an actual Hector's.

I love yellow watchman gobies. I've never had one, but I have a pair of yasha gobies that act similar. They are fun to watch, but not overly exciting. But fun!

I prefer they yellow to the diamond because it is brighter and easier to see.
