i found a 30g Eclipse tank on craigslist, i want to down grade from my 55 to this, what do i need to do for lighting? are there any bulbs sold strictly for a reef tank or do i have to purchase new lamp fixtures? if thats the case do they make upgraded lamp fixtures for this hood or does it have to be custom made? thanks for any help i can get.

The guy said he used it as a salt water tank but never had corals in it. it is the 2 lamp hood. im assuming i need new bulbs for a reef tank just not sure what bulb would work for the eclipse hood..

Also wondering if i would need to run my cpr skimmer? or would the hood be enough filtration with 25-35 pounds of rock i have?

Ive bought two of those hoods the first one I thought it was just defective and the second one had the same problem.... One of the bulbs will quit working after awhile and its has to do with a connection inside of the fixture.... I wouldn't buy one again.... Hope this helps you out

Tried to look at the site to get the specifics regarding the lighting. Have not had one in so long. I do not think it is power compact. Just fluorescent lighting I think.

If I was looking at an AIO system I would consider Biocubes, Nanocubes..... More expensive but a better investment. IMO

And it depends on cheap the tank is on criaglist. You maybe able to keep some of the really easy softies, like colt corals or some nonphyosynthetic corals.

I had a 6 gallon for a short time that had a powerglo 50/50 bulb and keep a few mushrooms and ugly button polyps with a clownfish and no skimmer, seemed to work allright, but didn't keep it long enough for a good review.
