    Hey I need some help with my skimmer. It's a coralife super skimmer, for up to a 65 gallon tank. The motor broke when the electricity went out 3 times in a row. I guess the power surge just messed it up somehow. So anyways, the body of the skimmer is fine, I just need a new pump for it that will work WELL. The pump I have right now is a rio 1100 but I have been unable to find any of those for sale online. I heard maxijets work pretty good? Anybody got any suggestions on the best kind of powerhead to get for the skimmer but not too pricey?? A website I could get one from would be nice too.. Thanks!

    I suggest watching the sponsor forums for labor day sales. May be the perfect opportunity to get one for cheap. I would also check CL but your better off buying new to prevent pump failure.

    I went into your profile but I don't see anywhere where you live. I'm in Mi and just recently switched from my Coralife Super to an Urchin. My pump is still good. I found this for you;
    Coralife 65 Gallon Super Skimmer Protein Skimmer Pump#

    this is going to sound like a silly question... but... have you pulled the pump impeller out and cleaned it? every time i have had a pump fail to restart after being off, due to cleaning tank or power outage . i have found the impeller area just needed to be cleaned. after cleaning it starts right back up.

    I live in ft Walton beach Florida..
    Thanks for the link and info!
    Yes I literally took the whole thing apart but the impeller would make this screetchy churning noise and the impeller would spin, stop, spin, stop.. So something was wrong. But the needle on the impeller broke anyway so now it's useless.
    I was using it on the side of the tank since I don't have a sump.
