I'm not exactly new here, I spend alot of time lurking(pretty shy). I do have a few tanks. My fav is my 55g mixed reef, born 8-09. We also have a 55g cichlid, 55g planted, and a 29g community. I've been keeping fish for about 20 yrs or so, had a 150g fowlr back in '94, that didn't thrive but barely survived. I've learned so much since then, especially since i joined 3reef, and my reef is growing and beautiful. I wanted to reach out today- I need all the support I can get...
We had to put our St. Bernard, Dozer, to sleep last night. He was 8 1/2 . He was not feeling well a couple days ago(throwing up), but seemed to be feeling better, until yesterday evening. To make a long and very sad story short, we had to have a vet come to our house last night and put him to sleep. The vet told us he had a ruptured tumor and was bleeding internally and that since he was so old, and had lost so much blood he didn't think dozer would make it through surgery.
He was such a good boy and he will be missed very much..

I am so sorry, the loss of a long time pet can be devastating.

Take some comfort that you gave him a wonderful home and he was able to say good bye in that home with the ones he loved.

Please do not be shy here, at one time or another we have all been there.

    Again sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. I had to put one of my Bengal cats down about 2 years ago and still feel her loss when I see her brother. Just remember the good times when you feel sad. I agree we are pretty much family here, no need to feel shy.

Thanks for the kind words. It just came on so fast I didn't have time to prepare myself for this. I know he was in alot of pain in the end and I'm sure we did the right thing, but that doesn't make it hurt any less... I keep expecting to find him sprawled out on the floor asking for a belly rub= his fav thing in the world besides food.

we still have 2 other dogs, another saint (junior), and a german shep(cassie) and a cat(maine coon, romeo) so no we won't be getting another pet anytime soon, except maybe some coral.
