    Hi all ;D

Found this acropora and it was a steal, but it was sold as Acropora puple tip. I would like to narrow it down some what. I do not believe it is ORA. Any help would be appreciated.

I think those are just classified by color vs species. There are a lot of purple acropora species.

Also, the majority of acroporas in general will still be labeled only by genus, not species. The "special" names, like frogskin, bellina, blue bottlebrush, etc describe absolutely nothing about the coral, as it's a name designed to sell more coral by a marketing department.

Yeah, I agree. The reason why I am leaning away from the echinata b/c it doesn't have the individual thin branch growth that echinata's tend to display.

I could not agree more. I am more interested in growth rate than anything else. Some acropora just grow so much faster than others. I do not care about the designer name at all. The care is bascially the same for most acropora, but I just wanted some basics for this one before it finds a permenant place in the tank.

Yeah, the trade names will drive anybody with any science background nuts.
